Our services

Pediatric Physiotherapy

Personalized pediatric physiotherapy to support mobility, strength, coordination, developmental milestones, and recovery from injury. Available at our Ottawa and Etobicoke clinics.

ABOUT pediatric physiotherapy
Children may need physiotherapy when pain, delayed development, an injury, or bladder and bowel concerns affect how they move, play, use the bathroom, or participate in everyday activities. Pediatric physiotherapy provides age-appropriate care to help children build strength, coordination, mobility, confidence, and healthy movement habits.
At Peloraa

Big milestones start with little steps. We’re here for every one.

A child’s bladder and bowel symptoms can be connected to constipation, toileting habits, breathing, abdominal pressure, pelvic floor coordination, and the ability to relax the pelvic floor muscles.

At Peloraa, pediatric pelvic floor physiotherapy is gentle, age-appropriate, and typically non-invasive. Assessment and treatment may include movement and posture assessment, breathing exercises, bladder and bowel education, toileting strategies, pelvic floor awareness, therapeutic exercise, and parent or caregiver guidance.

We work with children and families in a private, supportive, and judgment-free environment. Every step is clearly explained and adapted to the child’s comfort, age, needs, and goals.

At Peloraa, we help children better understand their bodies, build confidence, and participate more comfortably in everyday life.

Your care, thoughtfully considered

The Peloraa Way

01

What happens at my child’s first pelvic health appointment?

The physiotherapist speaks with the child and caregiver about bladder, bowel, fluid, toileting, movement, and medical history. Assessment may include breathing, posture, abdomen, hips, spine, and age-appropriate functional movement.

02

Is pediatric pelvic floor physiotherapy internal?

Pediatric pelvic health treatment at Peloraa is gentle, age-appropriate, and typically external and non-invasive. The physiotherapist explains each step and involves the child and parent or caregiver in consent and decision-making.

03

Does a parent or caregiver stay during the appointment?

A parent or legal guardian is generally involved in pediatric appointments, with the approach adapted to the child’s age, privacy, comfort, and consent requirements. Confirm Peloraa’s current pediatric consent policy when booking.

Pediatric Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health FAQs

What is pediatric physiotherapy?

Pediatric physiotherapy provides age-appropriate assessment and treatment for infants, children, and adolescents with movement, mobility, strength, coordination, pain, injury, or developmental concerns.

When should my child see a pediatric physiotherapist?

Consider an assessment if your child has delayed motor milestones, a head-position preference, toe walking, balance or coordination difficulty, weakness, pain, an injury, or trouble participating in play, school, or sports.

What is pediatric pelvic floor physiotherapy?

Pediatric pelvic floor physiotherapy supports children with bladder, bowel, pelvic, or abdominal concerns. Care focuses on age-appropriate education, breathing, toileting habits, movement, and pelvic floor coordination.

Can pelvic floor physiotherapy help a child with constipation?

Yes. Pediatric pelvic health physiotherapy may help when constipation is connected with stool withholding, toileting posture, difficulty relaxing, breathing, abdominal pressure, or pelvic floor coordination. Medical causes should also be assessed when appropriate.

Can physiotherapy help bedwetting?

Pelvic health physiotherapy may support some children with bedwetting by assessing bowel health, bladder habits, fluid patterns, breathing, and pelvic floor coordination. Because bedwetting can have different causes, collaboration with the child’s physician may be needed.

Can physiotherapy help daytime urine leakage or urgency?

Yes. Treatment may help children who rush to the bathroom, urinate frequently, hold urine for long periods, or experience daytime leakage. Care may include bladder education, scheduled habits, breathing, movement, and pelvic floor coordination.

How can I prepare my child for pediatric physiotherapy?

Explain that the physiotherapist will talk with them, watch how their body moves, and teach strategies to help them feel more comfortable. Bring relevant medical information and a list of symptoms, routines, medications, or questions.

When should my child see a doctor instead of—or before—a physiotherapist?

Seek medical care for fever, blood in urine or stool, unexplained weight loss, severe or worsening pain, new weakness or numbness, repeated urinary infections, or sudden changes in bladder or bowel control. Physiotherapy can collaborate with your child’s healthcare team after serious causes are addressed.

Where can I find pediatric physiotherapy and pelvic health care in Etobicoke or Ottawa?
