Male Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy for Better Strength, Control & Function

ABOUT menS PELVIC HEALTH
Many men do not realize that pelvic floor physiotherapy is for them, too. The pelvic floor plays an important role in bladder control, bowel function, sexual health, core support, pain relief and recovery after prostate surgery.
At Peloraa

Men's Pelvic health isn’t an additional service at Peloraa,  it’s our focus.

Men’s pelvic health physiotherapy can help with urinary leakage, frequent urination, urinary urgency, constipation, pelvic pain, teticular pain, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, painful intimacy, chronic prostatitis symptoms, and recovery after prostate surgery. These concerns can affect your confidence, relationships, exercise, and quality of life—but you do not have to manage them alone.

At Peloraa, our pelvic health physiotherapists provide private, respectful, and judgment-free pelvic floor therapy for men. We take the time to understand your symptoms, explain how your pelvic floor connects with the rest of your body, and create a personalized treatment plan to support your goals

Your care, thoughtfully considered

The Peloraa Way

01

What happens during a male pelvic floor assessment?

The first visit begins with a private discussion about your symptoms, health history, bladder and bowel habits, sexual function, movement, and goals. Assessment may include breathing, abdomen, hips, spine, movement, and an external or internal rectal pelvic floor examination only when relevant and with consent.

02

Is an internal rectal examination mandatory?

No. An internal rectal pelvic floor examination is optional and requires informed consent. External assessment, education, breathing, movement, and other treatment options are available if you prefer not to have an internal examination.

03

Are Kegels always recommended for men?

No. Kegels may help some men, but strengthening an already tense or poorly relaxing pelvic floor can increase symptoms. Your physiotherapist will determine whether you need strengthening, relaxation, coordination, or a combination.

A little more clarity

Men’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapy FAQs

Is pelvic floor physiotherapy for men?

Yes. Men have pelvic floor muscles that contribute to bladder control, bowel function, sexual health, core support, and recovery after prostate treatment. Men’s pelvic health physiotherapy addresses these functions in a private and respectful setting.

What symptoms can men’s pelvic floor physiotherapy help with?

Men may seek pelvic floor physiotherapy for urinary leakage, urgency, frequent urination, difficulty emptying, constipation, pelvic or testicular pain, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, painful intimacy, chronic pelvic pain, or symptoms after prostate surgery.

Can pelvic floor physiotherapy help after prostate surgery?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is commonly used before and after prostate surgery to support urinary control, pelvic floor coordination, movement, and recovery. Your program should be individualized rather than based on Kegels alone.

Can a tight pelvic floor cause pain in men?

An overactive or poorly relaxing pelvic floor can contribute to pelvic, perineal, penile, testicular, rectal, or tailbone pain in some men. A physiotherapy assessment can help identify whether muscle tension, coordination, movement, or nervous-system sensitivity may be involved.

Can pelvic floor physiotherapy help erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy may support some cases of erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation when pelvic floor strength, tension, coordination, breathing, or pain are contributing factors. It does not replace appropriate medical assessment for hormonal, vascular, neurological, medication-related, or other causes.

Do I need a urologist’s referral for men’s pelvic health physiotherapy?

You can generally book physiotherapy directly in Ontario, although your insurance plan may require a physician’s referral for reimbursement.

Where can men find pelvic floor physiotherapy in Etobicoke or Ottawa?

Peloraa offers private men’s pelvic health physiotherapy in Etobicoke and Ottawa. Contact your preferred Peloraa clinic to confirm practitioner availability and arrange an assessment.
